1) Do we get a title this year? This is unknown territory for us, but we have FOUR guys ranked at either #2 or #3. Plus, I think Zavatsky is that caliber and Chishko is, as well (more likely to get a title at 141 IMO, though)?
2) Does DMF shirt or not? Dresser says that McFadden won't be ready until Jan or Feb. Obviously, tha'st not a ton of of time. It's probably best for his development to redshirt him, and it's best for the team to ramp him up. If Blees or Laprade can hold down the fort at 165, it might make the decision easier.
3) What do we have in Blees? To me, the addition of Blees was a solid one. He's a guy that wrestles on his gas tank, and we've had some luck with that. We also know that Sal Mastriani wrestles like a maniac this time of year (beat Devin Carter at the Hokie Open, manhandled DMF in practice last year). He'll either be used at 157 or 165, but he's got to win either spot (yes, I think Laprade is underrated, eager to see him wrestle). Having him strong at 157, opens up the possibility of..
4) Do we do a midseason weight shift from 165 to 133? Right now, I'd guess that we'll see this lineup to start the season: 133-?, 141-Gus, 149 Chishko, 157 Sal, 165-Blees/Laprade. However, in January or February, we could see this: 133-Gus, 141-Chishko, 149-Sal, 157-Blees, and 165 DMF/Laprade.
5) Do we pull the redshirts off of any of the Freshman this year? I think Dunn and Allen definitely shirt and think Laprade goes live on day one. I think Kyle Norstrem will be served well by a redshirt year this year, but a lot here think otherwise. With also due respect to Jason Bryant, I think Gus is better suited 133, and will end up there. So does one of Moore and Degen go live this year, to hold down the fort at 141 and then challenge Sal if a shift occurs? Burns could be used as a stop-gap if they keep Gus at 141.Dresser has a ton of options at 133/141.
